Work started on the church on 22 March 1990 and the foundation stone was officially laid by Dr. Michael Russell, Bishop of Waterford & Lismore in a ceremony on the 30th June 1990. Both the site and foundation stone were blessed by Bishop Russell in the presence of members of Ss. Peter & Paul's parish council, and building and finance committees, as well as the parish clergy including the parish priest, Canon Patrick Queally. 'We are hoping the church will be completed and ready for the Easter ceremonies next year', said Canon Queally.
The Church of the Resurrection was officially opened in1991.

A new church - with gladness we rejoice
To see a threefold symbol of our faith,
a FAITH renewed -
A precious heritage sustained by HOPE,
HOPE, dispelling fears in our restless world,
Turning our thoughts to greater things
'Which eye hath seen nor ears heard'
As promised by our Creed.
And then CHARITY -
The charity of those who freely gave,
Generous in their giving,
Sharing now the Blessings of a noble work.
And so it stands, simple, serene and graceful,
A credit to the skill of gifted hands.
And as the bell tolls we look beyond the Cross
To proclaim the glory of the RISEN LORD.
